Allergens: what to know before you order
What we can and cannot take on, and why telling us in time matters.
Not a pleasant read, but an important one. Food sensitivity is not a matter of preference, and we have had guests mention it only at the counter, where our options are limited.
What our products contain
A significant part of our range contains gluten, egg, milk and nuts. That follows from the nature of classic confectionery.
What we can do
Our fruit ice creams are free from milk and egg. Coffee can be made with lactose-free milk or oat drink, and the Somlói sponge cake is available without alcohol.
What we cannot do
We do not currently make gluten-free pastries. The reason is not the recipe but the kitchen: where flour is handled daily, cross-contamination cannot be ruled out.
What we ask
Please tell us about any sensitivity when you order, not on collection.
More from us
How far ahead should you order a cake?
The question we get most often. The short answer: it depends on the occasion, but always earlier than you would think.
Why a cream slice is best in the morning
Not a whim but physics: puff pastry loses its crispness within hours as it takes up moisture from the custard.
Seasonal fruit in the display case
Why we do not sell strawberry cake in December, and what goes in the case instead.
